Is fear dictating your business decisions? 3 things to help you overcome it and get on with business.

Monday, February 7, 2011

If you are not sure what to be afraid of, just watch your evening news. They'll show you. Choose to take action and leave fear to weaker organizations. You will pass them by like Secretariat blew past Sham in the 1973 Belmont Stakes.

Three things holding your company back that you should no longer fear.

1. Government control and cost.
Take a proactive approach. Write your senator and/or congressman. Voice your concerns. Now get on with business! What else can you do - sit in fear of what the future will bring? Choose to take action and replace the uncertainty of what you cannot control with action on things you can control. Government is as government does. They are not here to help you.

2. The recession and economic climate.
We are in a recession. It is not going away any time soon. It is a poor excuse. The best business leaders and entrepreneurs find ways to flourish in tough economic times. Change, adapt and innovate through bad times like you did through good times and you will be fine.

3. Money is too tight to spend on training.
The best investment you can make is in the growth and development of your people. Investing in your people does three things;
- It shows them that you care and are willing to spend time and money on helping them grow.
- It creates loyalty. People who know they are valued stick around.
- It creates a culture of continuous improvement. As your people grow and get better, your company does as well.

Fear the future? Then step aside and let a race horse run!
